Latter-day Saint Charities Marks 30 years of UNHCR support

Since 1991, Latter-day Saint Charities has partnered with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to support millions of refugees around the world. Latter-day Saint Charities continued its steadfast commitment to refugees in 2021 as a top USA for UNHCR supporter, contributing $1.2 million for programs in Iran, Ethiopia, Somalia and the Central African Republic. 

In 2021, Latter-day Saint Charities unveiled their “Light the World” campaign that allows people to purchase essential items like blankets, sleeping mats and warm winter clothing for refugees from Giving Machines located in cities throughout the nation. USA for UNHCR was a featured charity in the LDS Giving Machine campaign, raising an additional $250,000.
